Michelle Obama Black Hair Drama
"Let me explain something to White people. Our hair comes out of our head naturally in a curly pattern. So, when we're straightening it to follow your beauty standards, we are trapped by the straightness." (White people who have curly hair don't like it, white people with straight hair don't like it, white people change the color of their hair ALL the time because they don't like it)
She blamed "White beauty norms" for why Black women avoid basic activities:
"That's why so many of us can't swim, and we run away from the water. People won't go to the gym because we're trying to keep our hair straight for y'all!" (Ever heard of a swim cap)
She described hair maintenance as "exhausting,"
"expensive," and restrictive - and said braids exist so Black women can "focus on the work." (White women spend a lot of women on their hair too Michelle)
"So why do we need an act of law to tell White folks to get outta our hair? Don't tell me how to wear my hair, don't wonder about it, don't touch it... just don't."
